LDES and the Future-Proof Energy System

Read two recent stories — each linked below  — on how the future of global energy systems depends on aqueous LDES.

1. Australia: The Data on LDES and the Energy System

  • A new report from Australia’s Clean Energy Council (CEC) finds that “long duration storage technologies will play a key role in maintaining the security and reliability of Australia’s energy system as more renewables are brought online and as coal generation retires.”
  • The report pays particular attention to Alternative, non-lithium LDES such as compressed air, thermal energy and redox flow batteries.

    Access the report here.

2. US: Five years to seize the LDES opportunity

  • “The impact of LDES expands beyond decarbonization; it enables an affordable, secure and resilient energy system”  argues Julia Souder, CEO, Long Duration Energy Storage Council.
  • Souder lays out the steps that governments, regulators and financial institutions must act on to fully realize the LDES opportunity in the next five years.
