Storion Energy, the vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) joint venture of Stryten and Largo Clean Energy, has secured its first vanadium electrolyte customer.
Storion will provide 50MWh of vanadium electrolyte for a 9.6MW/48MWh VRFB installation in Bellville, Texas, in collaboration with vanadium supplier Largo Physical Vanadium and RFB manufacturer Terraflow Energy.
California has completed the Nexus Project, a 1.6 MW canal-top solar pilot – including a 75 kW iron-flow battery system. Each storage system container provides 400 kWh of peak energy and has a lifespan of over 20,000 cycles. News in PV Magazine.
Google and SRP Investigate Non-Lithium LDES Impact
Google is partnering with Arizona utility Salt River Project (SRP) in a research collaboration to accelerate the commercialization of non-lithium LDES by better understanding its real-world performance. Energy Storage News has the report.
Australia’s Abundance
Australia’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) has awarded 4.13GW/15.37GWh of battery storage capacity in its third tender round.
The winners included 16 successful projects ranging from 100MW to 450MW, with storage durations ranging from 2 to 4 hours.
In a sign of a growing storage supply ecosystem, the round drew 124 bids totaling approximately 34GW/135GWh – eight times the capacity target.
