AquaBattery and Sciven to Partner on LDES

Saltwater-based flow battery firm AquaBattery has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for strategic collaboration with integrated sustainable tech solutions provider Sciven. The two firms will explore LDES pilot deployment opportunities, commercial and industrial use cases, and models for long-term partnership. Details in BEST.

“Battery Companies Could Be the Next Big AI Winners”

So predicts investor analyst Luke Lango. One notable potential winner Lango names: Zinc storage leader Eos, Inc. Two key arguments:

  • Eos batteries’ four to 10 hour duration is a “sweet spot for data centers looking to buffer grid demand and secure overnight uptime.”
  • Eos tech’s makeup keeps it free from potentially expensive and geopolitically challenging minerals like nickel, cobalt, and lithium.

Lango is in the investment business, which is why he specifically points to publicly-traded Eos. Of course, the thesis applies to much of aqueous battery tech overall.

Making Zinc’s Long Duration Even Longer

Sustainable tech educator / influencer Matt Ferell shares two items of research that may bring zinc batteries to lithium duration.

  • The first is a study out of Georgia Institute of Technology which finds that with zinc batteries, fast-charging solves dendrite growth.
  • The second is a manganese-graphene cathode from University of Technology Sydney that harnesses Jahn-Teller distortions to improve performance.

This is a great video to share with potential investors. Watch on Undecided.
